Verse

Malachi 1:6 “If I am a father, where is the honour due to me ?”

Lesson Learnt

Lord is asking His children, you say I am your father but where is the honour. Immediately people replied like us Malachi 1:6 “…How have we shown contempt for your name?” We even ask the same question how I dishonoured you. Today let us see three ways we bring dishonour to God.

Hidden/Ignored Sins

Malachi 1:8 “When you bring blind animals for sacrifice, is that not wrong ?..” We get into presence of God with un-confessed sins. Some secret sins to which we have become addicted too, we ignore and we think it is ok. Taking sins lightly. We do not fear to sin. We are not serious to live a Holy Life. Remember if this moment if you can live Holy, life if combination of moments.

Lip Serving

Malachi 1:10 “..you would not light useless fires on altar! I am not pleased with you. says the Lord Almighty..” When we sing and worship we do not even think of the meaning of the words we speak. Even in church our minds waver about in personal things. Even in the presence of the Almighty when we pray we are very hasty and we do not speak with a fearful and grateful heart.

Giving the Second Best

Malachi 1:14 “..Vows[we make vows] to give it but then sacrifices a blemished..” We make promises to God like we will fast, yes we skip meals by not praying, we say we love God, but spend time with God only when we need Him. We use our resources and time of ourselves and give the Lord what is left over. When Lord gave the best in Heaven Jesus to be crushed for us and provided all what we need, what a disgrace that we are not able to give our best.

Remember

Our Father is; Malachi 1:14 “For I am a great king says the Lord Almighty and my name is to be feared..” yes He is the great king, Almighty God, His name is to be feared.
